#48T Royal Blue Freight Set with #350 Royal Blue engine, my first train, made in 1948. The uncatalogued #48A set, also made in 1948, was similar but came with no transformer. The uncatalogued #50T set made in 1950 had a #642 boxcar instead of the #633.

#K5363W Silver Rocket Diesel Freight made only in 1954. The same set was made in 1953 with chrome engines.  It's the only freight set sold with Rocket engines.

K5358W Challenger Steam Freight Train made in 1953 & 1954. There were five different freight sets pulled by the #336 Northern engine that Gilbert sold under eight different stock numbers between 1953 and 1957.  Click here to see these sets.

#K5435T Silver Comet Diesel Freight with satin silver engine made only in 1954. The same train with the chrome Comet engine was made in 1953 as set #K5335T. These are the only freight sets sold with the Comet engine.

#5500T The New Crusader Freight set made in 1955. There were ten different freight sets pulled by the #307 Reading Atlantic engine that Gilbert sold under seventeen different stock numbers between 1954 and 1957.  Click here to see these sets.

#5620T New Mountaineer Freight made in 1956. There were nine different freight sets pulled by the #283 C&NW Pacific engine that Gilbert sold under seventeen different stock numbers between 1954 and 1957.  Three came with 220V transformers for export. Most never appeared in a Gilbert catalog.  Click here to see these sets.

#5655RH New Sunshine Special (almost) made in 1956. The real set also has a #378 dummy GP-7 engine which I don't yet have, and my #988 ART reefer  is standing in for the #989 Northwestern reefer, and my #940 Frisco gondola is standing in for the #920 Southern gondola. The same train was sold as #2H368 from 1956 to 1958 and as #20055 in 1957. #20355 made in 1957 is the same train but with a #979 caboose rather then a #977. It's the only set sold with the T&P GP-7 engines.

#5675TRH Hot Shot Freight made in 1956.  It was sold in 1957 as #20075. These are the only freight sets sold with these New Haven engines.

#K5680RH Santa Fe Chief Freight made only in 1956, the only freight set sold with these engines.
